Our Mission

At SA Yorkie Rescue, our mission begins with one simple belief:

Every Yorkshire Terrier deserves to be safe, loved, and part of a family.

We have seen too many Yorkies scared, confused, neglected, or surrendered through no fault of their own. Behind every little face is a story — sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes complicated — but always deserving of compassion.

We exist to change those stories.

Why We Do What We Do

Yorkies may be small in size, but they have enormous hearts. They are loyal, sensitive, intelligent little companions who form deep bonds with their people.

When a Yorkie loses their home, they don’t just lose a place to sleep.
They lose their security.
Their routine.
Their person.

We step in during that vulnerable moment.

Not just to “rehome a dog,” but to help them feel safe again.

What Our Mission Looks Like in Action

Our work includes:

• Rescuing Yorkies who are abandoned, neglected, or surrendered
• Making sure that they will receive the veterinary care they need so they are healthy and comfortable
• Placing them in carefully screened, loving homes
• Supporting adopters before and after adoption
• Educating owners about responsible, breed-specific care

But most importantly…

We give them time...
Time to heal.
Time to trust again.
Time to wag their tails without fear.

Sometimes surrendering a dog is one of the hardest decisions a family will ever make. We approach every situation with understanding — not judgment.
